Some moments don’t need a big setup; they just speak for themselves. Eli and Kinsley’s proposal was exactly that kind of moment.
It happened right in the middle of the Morehead City Seafood Festival, with the waterfront buzzing and boats passing by. But even with all the noise and movement around them, time slowed down in the best way when Eli dropped to one knee.

Around 1pm, Eli took Kinsley out on his boat for what she thought was a casual ride to grab some lunch. As they pulled up near Jack’s on the Waterfront, he anchored the boat, got down on one knee, and asked the question.
No big production, just a meaningful, personal moment with a few strangers cheering from shore.

Once she said yes, they docked up and we took a few portraits right there on the dock. That window of time right after a proposal is one of my favorites to photograph. There's still shock and joy on their faces, and everything feels so genuine.
Kinsley was beaming, Eli couldn’t stop smiling, and every little glance between them was full of emotion.

From there, we made our way through the festival crowd and up to Jack’s, where Eli had arranged one more surprise: a celebration with their closest friends and family waiting upstairs.
The energy in that room was unmatched; there were hugs, happy tears, and a few strangers who stopped by just to say congrats.

Eli and Kinsley’s proposal was so fun to capture, and I’m already counting down the days until their wedding next October! If this day was any hint of what’s to come, it’s going to be something incredibly special and I feel so lucky to be part of it.

Not every proposal needs to be perfectly staged or overly planned. The best ones feel like you, and that’s exactly what this was. Just two people, on a boat, in the middle of the town they love, surrounded by people who couldn’t help but cheer them on.
If you’re planning to propose or want to make sure someone is there to capture the moment let’s chat!
