Engagement Photos at Cape Lookout

From the moment that Charlotte reached out to me saying she and her fiance wanted to take their engagement photos at Cape Lookout I was in!!! Doing a session at the lighthouse has been on my bucket list since moving to North Carolina in 2021. Saying I was excited was an understatement. We chatted about the details, booked our ferry tickets, and we were ready to go! 

When the session day rolled around I was up by 6 am (for me that’s a big deal! I am NOT a morning person…) and was out the door to drive to the Harkers Island Ferry. Once Parker and I made it (of course I made him come on this adventure with me to capture behind the scenes!) we got our tickets and said that an hour should be plenty of time!

Then we met up with Charlotte and Andrew and boarded the ferry, then we were off! Once we got to Cape Lookout we immediately started shooting! It was the perfect day for a session! It was partly cloudy and so calm!

We started the session off by shooting on the sound side with the lighthouse in the background then moved over to the water.

Then Charlotte changed into her second outfit and we took some shots on the boardwalk as we walked out to the ocean! Charlotte had mentioned that she wanted pictures in the water! So we made sure to make that happen!

Once we got all of the shots we started walking back to the dock to be picked up by the ferry… so we thought.

The ferry came early and we were two minutes late.. We spent another hour on the island chatting. It was fun to chat about wedding planning and hear their proposal story! Which also happened at Cape Lookout! Shooting at locations that mean something to my couples is always so special! When the next ferry came we jumped on and we were on our way.

I am obsessed with the images from this session and am ready to head out to Cape Lookout again for another session!
