Candid vs. Posed Wedding Photos
This blog explains how I thoughtfully blend candid moments and posed portraits to create a wedding gallery that feels natural, emotional, and true to you.

This blog explains how I thoughtfully blend candid moments and posed portraits to create a wedding gallery that feels natural, emotional, and true to you.
One of the most common questions I get from couples is this:
“Do you shoot more candid or more posed photos?”
And my answer? Both (on purpose).
Your wedding day is a whirlwind of emotions, beautiful details, and once in a lifetime moments. And while those classic, posed portraits have their time and place, the real magic often happens in the candid in betweens. That’s why, when I photograph your day, I aim to give you the best of both worlds! A wedding gallery that feels full, emotional, and true to you.
Let’s talk about how I balance both candid and posed photography to tell your love story from start to finish.
Candid photos are the ones that feel like your wedding day. They’re full of movement, emotion, and real connection. It's your best friend tearing up as she buttons your dress. Your dad’s smile right before walking you down the aisle. That huge laugh during a toast you weren’t ready for.

These aren’t the moments you plan, but they’re the ones you’ll hold onto forever.
During your day, I do a lot of quiet observing. I pay attention to the way your people interact, the tiny looks you give each other, the happy chaos of it all. My goal is to catch those split second moments before they pass. So when you look back at your photos, you don’t just see the day you feel it.

Now let’s talk about posed photos because yes, they matter too! These are the images you’ll frame on your walls, the ones your grandparents will love, and the classic shots that anchor your album.

But when I say “posed,” I don’t mean stiff or unnatural. I mean gently guided. I’ll help you feel confident in front of the camera by giving you simple direction (like where to put your hands or how to angle your body), and then I let the natural connection between you take over.

I want you to feel like you in these portraits not like you’re acting or trying too hard. Whether we’re sneaking off for golden hour photos or grabbing a quick couple's shot before the reception, these portraits will feel joyful, natural, and relaxed.

Every wedding is different, but what I strive to create in every gallery is balance. A mixture of genuine emotion and polished storytelling.
We’ll capture the pretty details, the “look at the camera” portraits, the family shots your mom is going to love... and then we’ll layer in all the in between stuff. The belly laughs. The dance floor chaos. The quiet moments when it’s just the two of you.
When all of these moments come together, your final wedding gallery becomes so much more than a collection of pictures. It becomes a story. One that feels honest, complete, and full of life.

Whether you're tying the knot in your childhood church, saying "I do" in the backyard, or having a romantic beach elopement, my job is to document your day in a way that feels true to your love.
You don’t have to choose between candid and posed. With me, you’ll get both effortlessly blended into a wedding gallery that celebrates your people, your joy, and your story.
