A New Chapter: Kelsey Lynn Photography Is Now in South Dakota
A life update that feels both really exciting and a little bittersweet to share…
I’ve officially made the move to Sioux Falls, South Dakota!
After five years in North Carolina, I’m back in the Midwest, and while it’s been a big change, I’m excited to see what this next chapter has in store.
There are a lot of reasons for this move, but one of the biggest is getting back to my Midwest roots. After growing up in Minnesota, the Midwest has always felt like a part of me. I’m excited to be closer to family, experience familiar seasons again, and settle into a place that feels a little more like home in a different way.
Five years ago, I made the move from Minnesota to North Carolina without really knowing what the next few years would look like. Now, I’ve made another big move, and it’s hard to put into words how bittersweet it feels.
When I took my photography business full time in 2024, I never could have imagined where it would take me. What started as simply loving to take photos has turned into getting to be a small part of some of the biggest moments in people’s lives.
Over the last few years, I’ve had the chance to photograph proposals, weddings, growing families, seniors, elopements, and all of the little in-between moments.
But more than anything, it’s the people I’ve met along the way who have made this business so special. Having clients turn into friends, getting to photograph families more than once, and watching couples I photographed get married and then come back when their family grows. Those are the things I’ll carry with me long after leaving North Carolina.
And then there are all of the little pieces of that place that I know I’ll miss. Beach days in the summer, warm evening walks, sunsets by the water, and all of the familiar spots that became such a big part of my life and my work over the years.
North Carolina will always hold such a special place in my heart, and I’m so grateful for the memories I made there.
Kelsey Lynn Photography is coming with me.
I’m excited to see what photography looks like in a new place and to build something new here in South Dakota.
I’ll still be photographing weddings, couples, families, seniors, and all of the moments in between. The scenery may look a little different, but the things I love about photography aren’t changing.
I still want your photos to feel like you.
Natural, genuine, a little imperfect, and full of the moments you actually want to remember.
If you’re in Sioux Falls or anywhere around South Dakota, I’d love to meet you! I’m excited to explore new places, find new favorite photo spots, and build a new community here.
And for all of my North Carolina clients and friends, please know that this isn’t goodbye. I’ll still be making trips back to the Crystal Coast, and I would absolutely love a reason to come back and photograph some familiar faces. If you’re thinking about booking a session or wedding in North Carolina, please still reach out!
Thank you to every person who has trusted me with your memories, recommended me to a friend, shared my work, sent an inquiry, stepped in front of my camera, or simply followed along.
You’ve made these last five years so much more than just a place where I lived and worked. North Carolina became a really important chapter of my life, and I’ll always be grateful for everything that happened there.
Now I’m settling into a new place and looking forward to what comes next.
Here’s to a new place, new adventures, new faces, and hopefully a whole lot of new memories to photograph.
I’ll see you in South Dakota.
